Grad season this year was definitely more interesting, logistically complicated, and busier than previous years, and yet the incredible Virginia Tech senior graduates I have gotten to work with this spring have made it all the more worth it. With everything going on in our world these days, my seniors handled it all with grace and patience, and I couldn’t be more grateful that they entrusted me with photographing such a whirlwind season of their lives.
The absolutely gorgeous (inside & out) four gals featured in today’s post, Heather, Eden, Emily, and Sierra, absolutely exemplified handling such a crazy season of life with class and grace – and were a joy and blessing to get to work with! We first met up at the Duck Pond on Virginia Tech’s quiet and green campus for a few group photos, and then made our way over to Burruss Hall just as golden hour was setting over the Drillfield. These girls were seriously so much fun to work with – there was never a moment that wasn’t filled with laughter and them supporting one another during their session – it was seriously so cool seeing women deeply support and love on one another!!
First up, the stunning Heather – during her time at Virginia Tech, she studied Political Science with a track for Pre-Law, and minors in Philosophy Politics and Ecnomics. After graduation, she’s headed to Elon University for law school – what an incredible rock star!! She remembers her time at VT fondly, reflecting on the fact that Virginia Tech was a gateway to meet and connect with incredible people, and found a supportive community that helped strengthen her relationship with Jesus. Heather had the absolute biggest heart during our session, and I cannot wait to see where life (and her law degree!) take her next!
Next up, the lovely Sierra – this sweet girl never stopped smiling and laughing during our session! Sierra studied Biochemistry and Classical Studies while she was at Virginia Tech, with a minor in Chemistry (talk about one heck of a course work load whoa!). Post-grad, Sierra is headed to Liberty University for Medical School (!!!) in Lynchburg, Virginia. One of her favorite memories while at Virginia Tech was having a spontaneous bonfire with friends one evening down by the New River, and when she wasn’t out exploring the New River Valley, she loved spending time at the gorgeous Hillcrest Hall.
Eden, an absolute girl boss – she was so funny and so expressive during our session! Eden studied Political Science while at Virginia Tech, with a minor in Judaic Studies. After school, she’s looking to apply her incredible skillset and knowledge to a role within the foreign policy realm! Eden spoke of her favorite memory and takeaway from Virginia Tech being the lifelong friends that she met – I definitely sensed ‘future bridesmaids’ vibes from these four gals during their session! Eden loved heading to the Pylons to watch a sunset or two, so it was fitting that we ended our group graduation portrait session at the Pylons!
And last but certainly not least, the incredibly Emily – During her time at Virginia Tech, she studied Civil Engineering within the College of Engineering, and minored in Green Engineering. Now that she’s officially graduated, she decided to stick around for a little bit longer at the gorgeous Blacksburg campus to complete a Master’s in Structural Engineering! During our session, Emily had reflected on the fact that all the small, in-between moments during undergrad were some of her favorites – the coffee shop meet-ups, the conversations with peers while walking to your next class, the late night conversations – these are the things that made her time at Virginia Tech so special, and are the moments she’s missed most during quarantine! Emily, just like Eden, absolutely adored spending a few quiet minutes here and there at the Pylons in between classes.
Ladies, I congratulate you on your incredible achievement of graduating from Virginia Tech, and wish you the absolute best in your amazing careers and lives ahead!
