Tips for Your Telluride Mountain Wedding Day

To make the most of your wedding day at San Sophia Overlook, here are a few tips to keep in mind:

  • Account for gondola time! Most wedding ceremony sites that are at the top of mountains require a gondola ride to transport guests. Make sure to plan for at least 20-30 minutes of buffer prior to guests needing to be seated.
  • Hydration is key! Ensure everyone is properly hydrated at altitude. This is especially true if a majority of your guests will be coming in from out of town. Lots of water, Liquid IV, and snacks will come in handy!
  • Mountain sunset time is different than normal sunset time! Mountain sunset time (aka when the sun dips behind the mountains) actually happens roughly 45 min. before the scheduled sunset.
  • Comfortable shoes above all! Ceremony sites high up in the mountains often come with uneven terrain and required walking. Make sure this is accounted for in everyone’s footwear choices and clothing.
