Venue Spotlight: Vail Wedding Deck

With no shortage of stunning views, Colorado sunshine, and the Colorado Rocky Mountains in the surrounding vistas, the Vail Wedding Deck is a favorite Colorado wedding venue. We absolutely love to photograph Colorado weddings at the Vail Wedding Deck time and time again! We had a chance to photograph Mary and Zach’s Vail Wedding Deck wedding last summer, and it was a Vail, Colorado wedding I will be daydreaming about for years to come! When looking for a breathtaking Colorado wedding venue, look no further than the sweet mountain town of Vail, CO, home to the Vail Wedding Deck!

Vail Wedding Venues

When beginning your search for the perfect Colorado wedding venue, the gorgeous ski town of Vail very quickly comes to mind as one of the top wedding venue locations in the state. In the heart of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, you will find the charming, Switzerland-inspired town of Vail, nestled in Vail Valley. The town is primarily home to the Vail Ski Resort, which operates as a premier ski resort during the winter months in Colorado, and a breathtaking summertime hiking and wedding destination in the summertime. At the foot of the mountain lies the Vail Square and Vail Village. Each of these sides of the town boasts gorgeous mountain scenery, premier fine dining, and stunning mountainside resorts and villas. For a gorgeous ski town such as Vail, we have found that there are so many options for guests in terms of where to stay, where to relax, and where to spend their leisure time while they’re in town for the wedding weekend. Time and time again, we have found that Vail is the perfect place to host an incredible Colorado wedding weekend. Its close proximity to incredible views, top tier Colorado wedding venues, and the Denver International Airport make it the perfect location for your Colorado wedding.

In the Vail region of the state, there are many gorgeous wedding venues that we also love, including the Lodge at Vail, Camp Hale, Beaver Creek, Piney River Ranch, Piney Lake, Devil’s Thumb Ranch, and Vail Chapel. With so many gorgeous wedding venues to choose from in Vail, we have a tough time playing favorites as Colorado wedding photographers! However, the breathtaking scenery and mountain views that are featured at the Vail Wedding Deck make it one of our all-time favorite Vail Wedding Venues.

Within the town of Vail, there are so many favorite places to stay and celebrate. We adore Arrabelle Square in the Lionshead Village area for our couples to use for getting ready and sleeping accommodations. The Four Seasons Vail also boasts incredible accommodations and roomy suites for getting ready in, and are mere steps away in close proximity to the gondolas.

Vail Wedding Deck

Last summer, we had the opportunity to photograph this stunning Vail wedding day with Mary and Zach, who created a Colorado wedding day that is truly what wedding dreams are made of! Mary and Zach chose to get ready at the Grant Hyatt Vail, and do a first look on the way to the Eagle Bahn Gondola. One of my favorite aspects of Colorado mountain weddings is that, oftentimes, they require gondola transportation to get to the top of the mountain for the wedding party and wedding guests! For this Vail Wedding Deck wedding, in order to get those prime views of the Gore Mountain Range from a near perfect venue, Mary and Zach took things one step further, and opted to host their Colorado wedding ceremony at the top of Vail Mountain at the Vail Wedding Deck. Also known as the Holy Cross Event Deck or the Vail Mountain Wedding Deck, this stunning outdoor deck will wow your wedding guests with spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains year-round! Stunning memories are easily made as guests ride up the ski lift to the top of the mountain, where steps away, as the closest venue to the top of the mountain, the gorgeous Vail Wedding Deck sits.

The Vail Wedding Deck, one of the only ceremony sites at the top of Vail Mountain, features nearly panoramic views of the Rockies, and is built into the side of the hill atop Vail Mountain. With ample amphitheater style seating to be had for outdoor ceremony, weddings of up to 200 guests can easily be accommodated in this stunning wedding venue. We would highly recommend guests take the Eagle’s Nest or Eagle Bahn gondola to the top on their way to the ceremony, and can be greeted along the paved path with a glass of champagne before they are seated at the venue. We loved Mary and Zach’s classic wedding palette, featuring organic blue and white floral blooms, the bridesmaids in mixed pattern and fabric blue and white dresses, and the gentlemen donning classic black two-piece tuxedos a la James Bond.

They shared their first kiss as husband and wife as the sun began to slowly turn into golden hour, equally turning the Vail Wedding Deck area into a special place. ‘Just Married’ portraits were begun at the top of the mountain, and then traveling down the mountainside to Vail Village, using the picturesque Alps-themed streets of Vail as a the backdrop for their portraits.

Arrabelle at Vail Square Wedding Reception

After their outdoor ceremony at Vail Wedding Deck, the couple chose to host their cocktail hour and wedding reception at the Arrabelle at Vail Square, which features a gorgeous Great Room that overlooks the Eagle Bahn Gondola. Vaulted ceilings, a large outdoor deck, and a grand entrance hallway make for a stunning backdrop for a Colorado wedding reception. Cocktail reception was held on the deck overlooking the mountain’s summit and Vail square, with high-top cocktail tabes stationed throughout the deck. Inside, room for their 75 guests was amble as the couple shared their first dance and meal together as husband and wife.

When looking for your Vail, CO wedding venue, we cannot recommend enough that you check out the stunning views and iconic look of the Vail Wedding Deck, and we would love to help capture your wedding weekend, too! Check out some of our favorite photos below of the Vail Wedding Deck!
